Avid readers – mark your calendars. The North Book Club meets Thursday, September 27 at 6:30pm at Alton’s Kitchen and Cocktails in Cornelius. For bookworms in South Charlotte – clear your schedules on Sunday, October 14 so you can join the Book Club South at Dean & Deluca Wine Bar in Philips Place before Lights! Camera! Fashion! for a discussion starting at 3pm.
Both books are set during World War II.
Book Club South is reading The Book Thief by award-winning author Markus Zusak. The book is focused on the life of a young girl living outside of Munich, her accordion-playing foster father, her love of books and their struggle living in Nazi Germany.
The North Book Club is reading Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. The biography follows a lieutenant who was on an Army Air Forces bomber that crashed into the Pacific Ocean. He is left with only a tiny raft and thousands of miles of water. Hillenbrand’s name may be familiar because she also wrote Seabiscuit.
