Walt Disney once said, “We keep moving forward, opening new doors, and doing new things because we’re curious, and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.” This quote is how I feel at the start of every JLC year! It resonates more to me now in my current role as president-elect than ever before. Why is this? I am witnessing, first hand, this enormous amount of EXCITEMENT, ENERGY and CURIOSITY from all of you, our fabulous volunteers. Though you are not the only ones. Our community partners are showing the same amount of EXCITEMENT, ENERGY and CURIOSITY for this year as well.
I would like to ask all of you to do one thing for me this JLC year. Go ahead and laugh, because I know that volunteers cannot only be asked to do one thing. But here I go anyway. As you go out opening new doors or old ones, always keep three letters in mind: PDI. Promote, Develop and Improve. As you know, this is our mission statement. Yes, these three simple words. If you can remember to PDI each time you are opening a door or moving down a path, then we as an organization will stay true to our mission. By staying true to our mission, we are guaranteed to be successful in impacting the lives of the children and families we serve.
