Putting in your time as an active Junior League member pays off – there are lots of fun events for Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. Sustaining members.
The Sustainers gathered together for The Sustainer Luncheon on November 15 at Myers Park Country Club. The featured speaker was Charlotte’s very own Toni Freeman, current President of the Association of Junior Leagues International Inc. (AJLI). There was a great turnout, with 104 people present.
Thirty-four sustainers took an overnight trip to Asheville on November 30, arranged by Kathy Price and her daughter Kasey. Some visited the Biltmore House on Friday evening for a candlelight tour. On Saturday they went to the Christmas Greens Market sale and then to The Grove Park Inn to view the absolutely fabulous gingerbread houses on display there. They returned home late Saturday afternoon. It was a wonderful and special way to begin the Christmas season with good friends, lots of laughter and shopping!
The Sustainers gathered again on December 2 for a Christmas Party, held at the lovely home of Suzy and Denis Garvey. Suzy is the Sustainer Transfers Chair.
“Suzy’s house was decorated beautifully, and it got the season started in a wonderful fashion with friends, laughter, and Christmas spirit,” said Sustainer President Lila Brown.
There are more events coming up in early 2013. The book review scheduled for March 19 with Sally Brewster of Park Road Books is already becoming a very popular event. So far, 20 people have signed up and there is lots of room for more. This is open to you, your friends and book club members. Just email Lila Brown at lilalbrown@earthlink.net for sign up or additional information.
