Getting nothing- it’s not about the cost but the thought. Not even a card, not the right person for me. –Wendi Fleener, Internal Communications Team
Tennis racket- great gift, wrong occasion. Says you need to work out more, not eat chocolate. –Chantal Lyon, Finance Committee
My husband loves to think long and hard about gifts. He likes them to be meaningful, to represent some special moment shared or to be something that he knows I would absolutely love. So it only make sense that several years ago, I received a copy of The Boondock Saints 2 for Valentine’s Day. Because nothing says “I love you” like a couple of Irish vigilantes and a lot of gun fire. I mean really?! I guess I have too much chocolate and jewelry, and perfume or something of the like was a bit too impersonal! So on Valentine’s Day, I spent the evening curled up on a couch, snacking on whatever we could find in the pantry, and watching a couple of vigilantes curse their way through the killings of a bunch of bad guys. (Postscript –Several months later, it came to light that my husband remembered me laughing a particular scene in the first Boondock Saints movie. Remembering that, he figured that I would like the 2nd rendition.) – Sara Sprague, Internal Communications Team
You know, I’m not sure I’ve got a good one actually? I consider getting anything for V Day a success, – Laura Hill, Leadership Development Institute – Vice Chair
One year my boyfriend at the time got me socks. – Christina Gratrix, Internal Communications Team – Chair
I have definitely had the procrastinator V-Day when they were going to get me flowers but got to the flower shop too late and they were out of flowers. I feel like that probably happens to every woman at some point in her lifetime though! – Ginny Warlick, Membership Meetings – Vice Chair
I never received a bad or funny gift but I was given a very nice bouquet of flowers; however, he said “here I had to get you something” when presenting it. – Debbie Hull, Membership Development – Vice Chair
For our first Valentine’s day, my husband gave me a giant card and signed it from his dog using muddy paw prints. – Chrissy Fischer, Website – Chair
