Done in a Day is a popular placement for the ladies of the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC). In today’s blog post, we highlight the structure of the committee and the work they are able to complete.
The Junior League of Charlotte’s signature Done in a Day (DIAD) project partners with local nonprofits to help execute community projects that have a significant impact in Mecklenburg County. DIAD volunteering allows our members to interact with a variety of area nonprofits and provides nonprofit agencies with trained volunteers.
Elizabeth Miars is the Chair of Done In A Day this year and explains, “Done in a Day is unique in that we coordinate and participate in activities throughout the year with various community organizations that fit into the JLC’s mission. This year we will be cooking dinner at The Relatives monthly. Currently, we have several events scheduled including painting a house with Habitat for Humanity. We are also volunteering at the YMCA Lake Norman Triathlon.”
The pictures below highlight some of the work by the Done In A Day Committee:
DIAD JLC Charlotte cleaning/sanitizing books for Promising Pages.
DIAD JLC Charlotte working together to sort onesies for Baby Bundles.
JLC Done In A Day Committee volunteering at Alexander Youth Network before the Christmas holiday, wrapping tons of presents for the children that AYN services. For this particular project, AYN ensures that the children receive the donated toys/gifts on Christmas. With the blessing of having so many gifts donated, a few extra hands to wrap the presents was right on time!
The JLC appreciates the hard work and commitments by our Done In A Day committee.
