Done In a Day is a very unique placement for the Junior League of Charlotte. It truly offers a rewarding experience for anyone. Whether you are planning the event yourself or helping out with other events the JLC supports you can find a rewarding volunteer experience.
“An example of an event a committee member may plan includes organizing a meal at The Relatives, the only youth crisis center in Charlotte. You may help organize volunteers for an evening of “bundling” for Baby Bundles, a non-profit based here in Charlotte that provides new and gently used clothing and other baby essentials to underprivileged newborns here in the Charlotte area. Throughout the year, there are numerous other volunteer opportunities – such as helping with Go Kids Go or helping out at the Allegro Ball each January. Done in a Day is a self-scheduled placement that allows for great flexibility in time; and it provides a great avenue for connecting with the community and with other League members. “

“I have had the pleasure on being on DIAD for the last few years. Each year has brought different opportunities and experiences within the community. As a single mother who is self-employed, this committee really provides the flexibility I need while giving me the opportunity to serve the Charlotte community. The members bring a wealth of knowledge from various backgrounds, which is unique to our committee as we plan and coordinate various service initiatives. Being on this committee has provided me an opportunity to volunteer with a populations that I truly enjoy working with through initiatives with The Relatives, Florence Crittenton, and Presbyterian Hospital. Also being able to support other JLC committees is plus as we can participate in various JLC sponsored events. DIAD has provided me a great deal of experience in organizing and planning events as well as the opportunity to network with our community partners. This is definitely a committee that is focused on the mission and work of the JLC.”
