This Monday, we are featuring Junior League of Charlotte member Beth Bechhold as part of our Member Monday series. Beth is the Executive Vice President-Elect. Read more about the Concord native below.
1) Thanks for taking time to share some personal insights with us today. Can you give us some background information- tell me about your family and early years?
My husband, Dave, and I live in Davidson with our 4 year old son named Spencer. We recently celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary. I grew up in nearby Concord and returned to the Charlotte area a few years after graduating college.
2) What is the best and worst decision you’ve ever made?
My best decision was marrying my husband who always supports me. I honestly cannot think of one particular bad decision. I am sure I took some wrong turns along the way but hopefully I always get back on track.
3) What woman inspires you and why?
There are many women that inspire me. In light of the recent Royal Wedding, Princess Diana comes to mind. She was a woman who worked passionately for causes she believed in. She always carried herself with grace and poise even in difficult situations. These are both traits I admire.
4) From start to finish, what would your ideal day be like?
I love to travel. I think my ideal day would be waking up somewhere new and spending the day exploring the culture and food as well as enjoying some people watching.
5) What keeps you up at night?
The truth is that I can be a worrier. I try not to let the little things get to me but I do worry that I am giving enough to the people and organizations I care most about.
6) If you could tell your 23-year-old self one thing what would it be?
I wish I would have known that it all works out. I think I worried too much about little things.
7) What is one thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I think people would be surprised to find out that I was a flight attendant for 2 and a half years and I met my husband on an airplane.
8) How has the Junior League helped you develop your potential or taught you something unique?
For me, the Junior League has allowed me to have a place to be challenged and feel successful in a way jobs never have. This is a very special organization. I have developed skills I never could in a workplace like leading a team of people and planning events.
