Meet Erica Champion, a Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) Provisional member and graduate from UNC Charlotte. Ms. Champion has lived in Charlotte for a cumulative of 10+ years. Currently she is a National Strategic Account Executive at Randstad Technologies. She helps hiring managers find technical candidates for contingent labor contracts. Prior to that Erica was a staffing manager in their general labor division and was a top performer in her first year, earning her a promotion into strategic accounts.
Before that Erica lived in NYC working for Ernst and Young, supporting a large hedge fund client and their advisory team. She enjoyed exploring New York City for three years before moving back to Charlotte in 2017. Since moving back, Erica knew she wanted to give back to the growing Charlotte community and is excited to meet like-minded women in the League. She is looking forward to her Provisional year to learn more about how she can get involved and become an asset to the League.
Erica lives in Plaza Midwood with her 6-year-old rescue Piper and loves the Carolina Panthers. She has been a PSL owner for 6 seasons and even while living in New York tried to never miss a game. You can usually find her at a Panthers Game, Lake Norman, skiing or enjoying a cocktail at one of her favorite neighborhood bars. Brunch is her favorite meal and she believes a weekend isn’t complete without brunch with her friends.
Q: What do you plan to give to the Junior League?
A: This is such a great opportunity that allows me to utilize my skill sets in order to give back to the community. I have experience in account management, data analysis, project management and relationship building and I intend to use this experience for the betterment of the JLC. I can’t wait to get assigned to my first placement and become an asset for the League.
Q: How do you think the Junior League will help to develop your potential?
A: I feel that the JLC will put me in a position to help improve the community. The possibilities are endless and I am excited to become a more well-rounded individual who is skilled, capable and knowledgeable through volunteerism.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A: All of my favorite childhood memories are connected to competitive cheerleading, musical theater and dance. I love being on stage and get a rush at any opportunity to be in front of people.
Q: What motivates you to work hard?
A: I am pretty competitive and always love to be the best at what I do.
Q: If you could choose anything to do for a day, what would it be and why?
A: I would spend time with my friends and family by the lake; it is definitely my happy place.
Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: After a tumultuous 2017, where I was laid off 3 times while working in NYC, instead of giving up, I dug my heels in, gave my career my all and within one year at my current company I was promoted and noted as a top performer.
Q: What is your favorite thing about your career?
A: I love that when the going got tough, I learned how to be scrappy. I also value that I had the opportunity to work for so many industries and it has taught me so much about business and what I have to offer.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I am the BIGGEST Carolina Panthers fan you’ll ever meet. I have personally been a PSL owner since I was 24. While living in NYC, I was the co-head of the NYC chapter of the Roaring Riot and would do anything to see the Panthers win a Super Bowl in person.
Q: How do you think your friends would describe you?
A: My friends would say that I am outgoing, the life of the party, loyal, strong and the ultimate planner. They would also say that they would probably call me first in a crisis because I would drop anything to be there for someone in need. Whether it’s to help them when they get a flat tire or a shoulder to cry on.
