1) Thanks for taking time to share some personal insights with us today. Can you give us some background information about you?
I am from Richmond, Virginia. I went to a small school all my life; I graduated with 11 people. Since I went to a small high school I did not want a big college. My best friend who is a few years older than me told me I needed to look at High Point. I looked at it and fell in love. After college, I wanted to live in a new place for a little while, while I was still young. I really don’t know why I chose Charlotte. I had a few girls in my sorority that were older than me who moved here and loved it so I decided to check it out. I have two older brothers that I adore. Perdido Key is one of my favorite places to be; we have family in Alabama and Florida so we go every year.
2) What is the best and worst decision you’ve ever made?
I think the best decision I made was moving to Charlotte. It taught me I can do a lot of things on my own and made me grow up a little. I have met people who have become some of my best friends. I can’t think of anything that sticks out as being a really bad decision, I am sure there is a bad outfit in there somewhere. I am only 26 and have lived a pretty simple life.
3) What woman inspires you and why?
My mom inspires me. She is a great cook, she helped raised three great kids (I think), she is always there for me, and she is a great friend. She is also a great parallel parker. I always tell her I want to be able to parallel park like she does one day. She tells me, “practice makes perfect.”
4) From start to finish, what would your ideal day be like?
My ideal day would be spent at the beach in Alabama with my family. I would eat all the fried fish (maybe a cheeseburger) I wanted and not gain an ounce.
5) What keeps you up at night?
I am 26 and really only have to worry about taking care of myself. If something bothers me I will call my mom so it won’t keep me up. I am lucky that things don’t keep me up at night right now, besides when my roommate leaves the hall light on.
6) If you could tell your 23-year-old self one thing what would it be?
You’ll have a boyfriend one day.
7) One thing people would be surprised to learn about you?
I love monograms. I have a little vinyl monogram business.
8) How has the Junior League helped you develop your potential, taught you something unique, and/or given you an opportunity that you never would have had otherwise?
I am in my provisional year right now. I have enjoyed going to all of the events so far and meeting new women. I am looking forward to growing and learning new things in the Junior League.
