Meet Julie Morrison, an Active member of the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. Julie is a committee member on the Hospitality and Internal Events team.
Q: Tell me about yourself
A: I am a native Charlottean, as is my dad. My mother grew up nearby in Salisbury, NC. I have one sibling, a sister who is seven years older than me and who blessed me with the sweetest niece a year and a half ago. I attended Charlotte Christian School from kindergarten through graduation, then made the move to Fort Worth, TX to attend Texas Christian University for undergrad. Go Frogs!
Q: What have you gotten from the Junior League?
A: I have learned valuable skills in networking and have gained many friendships. Without the influence of my Provisional year advisor, Brittany, I would not be in my current field or position today! I currently work as a business development representative at Glew, which provides powerful analytics and business intelligence for e-commerce and agencies. The Junior League has also provided me with the opportunity to give back to the community in which I was born and raised and this I am most thankful for.
Q: What have you given to the Junior League?
A: I have given the Junior League my commitment of willingness to serve and make an impact in the community. Last year was my first Active year in the league and the majority of my responsibilities were postponed due to COVID-19. I am hoping this year will bring great opportunities to serve from 6 feet away!
Q: How has the Junior League helped to develop your potential?
A: The Junior League has re-introduced me to philanthropy work post undergrad. Growing up, I served the community through Elevation Church, Operation Christmas Child and opportunities through Charlotte Christian School. During my undergraduate career, the chosen philanthropy of my sorority, Tri Delta, was St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The League has allowed me to continue acts of service.
Q: What motivates you to work hard?
A: Being in the presence of strong, resilient, gritty women keeps me motivated and driven to achieve and set goals. This is one of the reasons I love the Junior League so much. The women in this group are such an inspiration!
Q: What is your favorite thing about your career?
A: Every day is a different challenge. I speak and work with people from around the world on a daily basis, which has given me incredible insight.
Q: What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
A: My co-workers would be surprised that I struggled in school and lacked motivation, considering the personality traits I possess today. I truly love my job and this motivates me to work hard to succeed.
Q: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
A: I see being a professional and expert in my field and prioritizing more time to serve and advocate for mental health. Mental health is so important and I am passionate about helping others who are struggling.
Q: If you could go back in time to change one thing, what would it be?
A: If I could go back and accept the help that others offered me in the past, I would in a heartbeat. I used to feel that I could not accept help but needed to do everything on my own in order to succeed. I have since learned that there is nothing wrong with accepting the help of others!
