Meet Loverica Irby, an Active member of the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. She is a frontline worker during the current COVID-19 pandemic and works as a pediatrician in the University area. She has a dog named Charlie that was adopted from a shelter. Learn more about Loverica below!
Q.) Tell me about yourself.
A.) I grew up in Laurens, SC. It’s a small little town near Greenville, SC that is full of country fun living.
Q.) What made you want to join the Junior League?
A.) I joined because prior to moving to Charlotte my friends here would always talk about the JLC and the events that they were a part of throughout the year. My friends always seemed excited to talk about the League events and this made me want to join something that was exciting.
Q: What do you plan to give to the Junior League?
A.) I plan to give my energy to volunteer events, especially through my placement as a volunteer with the Renaissance West Community Initiative.
Q.) How do you think the Junior League will help to develop your potential?
A.)There are so many amazing and empowering women in the League, how could I not develop and grow among them all.
Q: What is your favorite childhood memory?
A.)My favorite childhood memories are family Memorial Day cookouts when my whole family would come to SC from multiple states for the weekend.
Q.) What motivates you to work hard?
A.) I’m motivated to work hard because of the future I envision for myself, which pushes me to plan for the person I would like to become in the future.
Q.) If you could choose anything to do for a day, what would it be and why?
A.) I would have brunch with Michelle Obama. I think she would provide inspiration/motivation for me to continue forward with my future goals.
Q.) What is your favorite thing about your career?
A.) My favorite thing about my career is working with the pediatric population and watching infants grow into beautiful, active little children.
Q.) One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
A.) I used to play the piano very well when I was younger, but can only play one song now.
Q.) What are your hobbies?
A.) My hobbies include Netflix binging, reading, baking and spending time with my dog.
