Q: Tell us about yourself
A: I grew up in Spartanburg, SC. I went to Notre Dame for undergrad and then Wake Forest for law school. I have an older brother who is married with a daughter and son, who are my favorite kiddos in the whole world.
Q: What have you gotten from the Junior League?
A: So much! I originally joined in Raleigh, NC, when I had just moved there and didn’t know very many people. I am so grateful for the opportunity to meet and get to know other strong, driven women. I also think it has helped me plug into the community here in Charlotte and learn more about the place where I choose to live.
Q: What have you given to the Junior League?
A: A lot of time! But I’ve gotten far more out of it than I’ve ever put into it. I also feel like the saying “time flies when you’re having fun” was made for the Junior League!
Q: How has the Junior League helped to develop your potential?
A: I serve as the VP of Finance here. If you ask any of my family or friends who know my mental math skills, they would probably be surprised by that. I think it is a great way to get out of your comfort zone and develop skills you might not have a chance to work on otherwise. I also am much more comfortable leading a meeting and talking to large groups of people than I was before I joined the Junior League.
Q: What is your proudest accomplishment?
A: I was on Jeopardy! back in October! It was so much fun. I had been dying to go on the show for my entire life and finally got the chance to tape this August. I loved every minute of living one of my bucket list items!
Q: One thing people would be surprised to know about you?
A: Not sure if this is all that surprising, but I am obsessed with old houses. Every time I travel anywhere, I try to find a house museum so I can go and gawk at all the antiques and old architecture!
Q: Where do you see yourself in the next five years?
A: Hopefully as a Sustainer in the JLC. 😊 But more seriously, I hope I’m continuing to succeed in work and still lucky in my friends, family, and the people I get to spend time with.
Q: What are your hobbies?
A: I love to do needlepoint and calligraphy, and anything crafty. I also read all the time. I read 100 books in 2016 (just to see if I could.) I tend to average more around 50-60 a year now.
Q: How do you think your friends would describe you?
A: I hope they’d describe me as loyal, fun, and kind. I always try to be there for people in the good times and the bad times.
Q: What is one thing you will never do again and why?
A: Camp for more than a day. I NEED a shower in my life!
