Marguerite Carson, senior manager at Accenture, is this week’s Member Monday Spotlight. As chair of Chameleon’s Journey, Marguerite shares, “Chameleon’s Journey is such a unique program, not only in the Charlotte region, but across the country. It serves children who have suffered the loss of a close loved one – a scenario less rare than commonly believed. The experience of witnessing children who have experienced a devastating loss so early in life come together with peers and quickly form relationships and bonds due to their common experiences is humbling and a true honor and privilege.”
A member of the JLC for nine years, Marguerite has also completed placements at Thomson Child & Family Focus and JLC Internal Communications. Marguerite joined the JLC as she was looking for a way to get engaged in the community and make a positive impact in an effective and meaningful way. Marguerite explains, “The League is a great bridge to so many worthy organizations within the Charlotte community. The benefits of becoming a trained volunteer through the League’s various training and development programs and leadership opportunities are incredible bonuses and cannot be overstated. The fact that it has also afforded me the opportunity to meet and work with so many dynamic, like-minded, generous and talented women is the icing on the cake!”
When she’s not working or volunteering, Marguerite enjoys horseback riding, reading, traveling and spending time with her husband Mark, who is her partner and best friend. She recently took a vacation to the Philippines and hopes to visit Cuba in the next couple of years.
Born in Berlin, Germany, Marguerite lived in many places growing up as a self-proclaimed Army Brat. This Tennessee Volunteer also cheers for Notre Dame, University of Louisville and of course, the Carolina Panthers!
We appreciate Marguerite’s commitment to the League and hope you have the chance to get to know her better soon!
