Charlitta Hatch is quick to credit her mentor and sponsor, Dr. Debra C. Smith, as the main reason she is involved with the Junior League of Charlotte. “Debra has always been such an instrumental force in my life and someone I admire. It was an honor to be a part of an organization that she served in. It wasn’t until after I joined that I realized how instrumental the League has been in the Charlotte community, the place that I am proud to call home.”
It should come as no surprise that Charlitta is serving as the Human Resources Council Manager this year, as her three year tenure with the Membership Development Committee holds such a special place in her heart. The opportunity to educate new members and instill a passion for the League was truly an honor for her and Charlitta was always involved in driving provisional engagement. Charlitta will serve next year as Nominating Vice-Chair.
One way was through the Provisional Bus Tour, for which Charlitta could be a contender for the Most Frequent Rider Award. Though she has been on the tour many, many times, she has always learned something new about Charlotte and the JLC. “It’s a great reminder about the rich history of the JLC and the wonderful things we are all doing every day to continue this legacy.”
If you have ever interacted with Charlitta, you know that she is in the business of getting things done! This year, not only did she accomplish lots of League goals, she checked off quite a few boxes in her personal life. Charlitta became a Mrs. in 2015, marrying Mark Hatch. The two jetsetted to the Dominican Republic for their honeymoon and planned the building of and moved into their first home together. Congratulations, Charlitta!
You have a pretty good chance of running into Charlitta at the League Building, but if you happen to miss her there, you may see her around the University area. She’s usually spotted in yoga pants, but admittedly has never attended a yoga class before.
Thank you, Charlitta, for all that you do for our League and for our members. We are so thankful for you every day.
