WearHouse Marketing & PR committee member, Simone Carrillo is enjoying her first year as an active member of The Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. She loves that her placement allows her to be visually creative while having a direct impact on fundraising. She is all the more motivated to make the last year of our JLC WearHouse location on Pecan Avenue a success!
While only a member of JLC for two years, Simone has known of the League for quite some time. Her mother was a member of the Savannah and Tampa Leagues and then became a Sustainer in Charlotte. Simone shares, “She helped guide me to join the JLC because I was looking for something that would allow me to meet more people in Charlotte, as well as being able to help out my community.”
Simone is currently going through an exciting time in her professional life. After working as a patient financial service specialist at Carolinas HealthCare System, she just went back to school this fall for nursing in order to be on the clinical side of healthcare. Her goal is to become a nurse practitioner in mental health or pediatric oncology.
When she’s not studying or volunteering, Simone loves trying new restaurants, traveling, spending time with her family (five siblings!) and glamming up brides on their wedding day as a freelance makeup artist. The Savannah native enjoys homemade mac and cheese and Will Smith movies. You may even catch her singing “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child if you’re ever out for karaoke on the weekends!
Simone is a true asset to the League, and we hope you get the opportunity to meet her soon!
