Reasons I Joined the Junior League of Charlotte
I have been a member of the Junior League of Charlotte for a little over a year, and I am so glad I made the decision to join. My quick profile is: I am 28yearsold, married for almost two years, and have lived in Charlotte for 6 years. I have two official jobs, one as a private tutor and one as a tutor for a Title 1 K-8thgrade school in Charlotte. I am also an artist on the side and spend a lot of time painting and working on commissions.
I think the question I get the most from friends who are not members of the JLC is
“How do you have time to be involved in Junior League?”
At first, this was a huge concern of mine. I joined JLC because I wanted to become a contributing and involved member in my community. I wanted to give back and meet other women with similar goals.
What I have learned is that being a member and giving just some of my time is very rewarding. I have loved getting to know women of all different ages, from all over the United States, and from a wide variety of career backgrounds. I have become a vice-chair of my committee and have learned a lot about leadership roles within the JLC. I met many strong and intelligent women who are willing to donate their time to this organization. I enjoy going to meetings a couple times a month and volunteering when I can. I am constantly meeting new people and the JLC helps me to get out and give back.
I was looking for a way to get involved in the Charlotte community, and the commitment to Junior League has been the best thing I have done since moving here!
@JL_Charlotte loved the blog post. #juniorleague has always been a great way to give and to connect within a community.
