It could be said that a bead necklace is very similar to our experience with the Junior League of Charlotte – beautiful pieces, some big, some small, all strung together with the wire we call friendship. So last month, when the world’s best Provisional Advisor, Charlitta Roberson, (ok, I’m a little biased) announced that we would have a “Team Charlitta” small group outing at On-A-String on Providence Road, I jumped for joy!
The idea was simple – get Charlitta’s Fall provisional group together with her Spring group so we could share experiences and expand our networks while learning a new skill. I’m a slightly outgoing person (as are most of us in the JLC) and I LOVE creative projects so this opportunity had my name all over it.
During our meeting, we were led by one of the instructors in basic stinging and clamping to make your own bracelets and earrings. Over a lot of laughter and some great conversations, we found we all shared interests and hobbies, and of course we all liked pricing at the WearHouse.
We discovered some previously unknown creative talents in the group and some of us took home some great bracelets. Still, some of us walked away learning that while stringing is fun, we’ll be more successful picking out our beads and letting the skilled staff take on the stringing for us. Whether we walked away with a masterpiece or not, we all managed make new connections and kick-off new friendships.
A special thanks to Charlitta and all of our provisional advisors who work so hard to make our first year in the JLC a memorable one.
