Welcome to Throwback Thursdays on the Junior League of Charlotte blog.
Did you know the Junior League of Charlotte, Inc. (JLC) owned and operated a Baby Hospital?
On February 4, 1928, The Junior League Baby Hospital opened on Bay Street in Charlotte.
In December of 1928, The Charlotte Observer published a feature on The Junior League Baby Hospital explaining children were able to be cared for from birth to 18 months. After children aged out of the facility, they could be connected to an orphanage to give their families more time to provide stability, reunited with families who were in a better position to care for them, or be adopted by women of the JLC.
Throughout the feature provided by The Charlotte Observer, we can see how the JLC supported both the operation of the hospital and the families by assisting doctors and nurses and advocating for families.
