#ThrowbackThursday JLC History
Welcome to Throwback Thursdays on the Junior League of Charlotte blog. During the 2017-18 year, The Charlotte Observer is letting us dig in their archives and share photos of their coverage over the decades of the Junior League of Charlotte’s work in the community.
The Junior League of Charlotte has been an active supporter of other charitable organizations in the city throughout its history. In 1959, the JLC pledged $10,000 to the construction of Girl Scout camp buildings.
The JLC continues to support the Charlotte community through grants to community partners. Just last month, the JLC called for community partners to submit applications for Junior League grants and assistance from trained JLC volunteers. The JLC looks to support organizations in high need areas that are involved in activities consistent with the JLC mission and School Readiness focus area, and have significant volunteer opportunities for the JLC and/or JLC member(s). Since its inception, the Junior League of Charlotte has provided more than $13.5 million in grants.
