JLC volunteers will be responsible for sorting, cleaning, stamping/branding, wrapping and labeling books according to instructions either on site at the warehouse, or if necessary, off site at their home. Volunteers will also be able to help pass out wrapped books at community outreach events and at Magic Book Party Programs at Reid Park Academy.
SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK
JLC volunteers will be participating in the mobile pantry program at Reid Park Academy. They will get to interact with the community as they pass out groceries to those in need. Volunteers will staff the mobile pantry at Reid Park Academy on a monthly basis. The committee also volunteers hours at the Second Harvest Food Bank warehouse, assisting in packing backpacks with food which will be delivered to children in need.
KIDS IN THE KITCHEN
Kids in the Kitchen (KITK) is an international initiative of the Association of Junior Leagues International (AJLI) to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues. This committee also coordinates community garden initiatives in conjunction with the Cornerstone campaign at Reid Park Academy.
