Why I Joined the Junior League of Charlotte …
My husband and I moved to Charlotte three years ago with our small dog Honey. We settled into a fun uptown apartment for a year and realized we wanted more space. We found a cute bungalow in Plaza Midwood and bought it just shy of one year of living in Charlotte.
Days before signing the paperwork for our new home, we found out the great news that I was pregnant! We were overjoyed and made the perfect nest for our growing family.
I waited until the summer after Mason was born to join the Junior League of Charlotte. I had been thinking about becoming a member since we moved to our new city and figured there will never be a more convenient time to join than the present.
I wanted to join the JLC to make new friends and to help the community. I had always done volunteer work, either through the National Honor Society in high school or through my college sorority. In short, I missed helping others.
JLC has allowed me to make new friends and to be part of something big … “an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, to developing the potential of women and to improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers” (from JLC mission statement).
